Greg Davis, Lullatone, and Shedding announce winter mini-tour of Midwest
(Performance info below)
Greg Davis, Lullatone, and Shedding will brave the chill of the
Midwest this winter as they dash through the snow on a six city mini-tour.
The group, three of electronica's up and coming luminaries, will
take their laptops and their stripped down breed of beep, pop, and glitch
based melodies to venues in Columbus, Cincinnati, Minneapolis, Milwaukee,
Louisville, and Chicago. Performance information, such as dates, venues,
etc, can be found in the chart below.
2002 saw the release of Greg Davis' much acclaimed album "Arbor"
album on New York's Carpark Records. Since its release Davis has toured the
US and Europe extensively with friend and collaborator Keith Fullerton
Whitman, a.k.a. Hrvatski (Kranky Records).
Davis moved toward the world of computer-based music after
receiving a Masters in Music Composition. In 1997, he started his own
label, Autumn Records, and has since relocated from Boston to Chicago. His
trademark mix of laptop clicks coated under layers of acoustic elements has
recently gained the attention of much of the music media.
IDJ magazine praised Davis for his ability to form "seemingly
random elements into a beautiful semblance of melody and delicate
structure."
Lullatone is the musical venture of Shawn James Seymour, and
occasionally, enhanced vocally by Sookmi Park from Nagoya, Japan.
Lullatone's first full length CD, "Computer Recital", will be released this
winter from Audio Dregs Recordings. A melodic album composed almost entirely
of ordered beep tones, "Computer Recital", rouses images of a sine-wave
symphony.
The Courier Journal called Lullatone "an atmosphere of melodic
nursery rhyme-like melodies"
Audio Dregs will also soon be releasing a split 7 inch single
featuring Lullatone and Child's View (a.k.a. Nobukazu Takemura). Seymour,
who began recording under the Lullatone moniker in 2001 while living in
Osaka, Japan, is now producing a second album to be released in 2003 on
Takemuras Childisc label.
Shedding is the solo work of Connor Bell of Parlour (Temporary
Residence Limited). Seeing an opening to break from the rock and roll
format, Bell currently is investigating a laptop-based music which is often
abstract and always loose enough to allow for considerable improvisation in
the moment. Shedding has played shows with Takagi Masakatsu, Jon Sheffield,
Inkblot, Greg Davis, Hrvatski, Josef Suchy, A-musik Soundsystem, and Keenan
Lawler. Future plans include the release of an LP entitled "Now I'm
Shedding" on Hometapes Recordings. Datamusik will also publish an mp3
edition.
Shedding is limitless and undefined sound, an outlet of complete
freedom. Think pleasant.
