Speed Tribe DVD/CD soundtrack by Front 242 Brand new soundtrack from the guys in Front 242. Not normally something I would get too excited about, but it is quite a departure from their usual hard edged techno. Much more of of a soundscape ambient noise glitch soundtrack. With a couple of those throbby hard techno tunes that you would expect. The DVD contains two really similar documentary type films about the day in the life of a European (auto) race track. Not much of a story, but it does have fast parts and slow parts and the music does follow those moods well. Some nice computer-aided post production effects. Musically, it's an intriguining listen. Similar to Aleamapper, but not quite so detailed and itchy. Nice techno tunes, nice use of ambient piano (like Drukqs) and lots of little glitchy sounds sprinkled about. Lots of short songs (1:00-2:00) but a few longer ones. Go to dance.com for more information than you could want. Venetian Snares- Winter in the Belly of the Snake Brand new on Panet Mu. Absolutely do NOT file under breakcore/ breakbeat/ hardcore. It has none of that. Definitely file under IDM 'cause this one is an all bleepy and bloopy affair. Minus the highly questionable cover of "She" by the Misfits where Aaron sings, this could be his best album yet. At least the most palletable.

Yes, wonderful album. Not so fond of the Misfit cover either... I was into it for a bit, but then he started "singing" (if that's what you call it) and i immediatly lost interest. However, don't let this discourage you. Having only one track on the album that I would rate below "amazing" is pretty impressive. A must buy.

The cover of "She" isn't so bad (not great either, mind you), but it certainly does NOT fit in with the rest of the album. That track in the middle of every other perfected song just doesn't sit well. By the way, this album is the most "idm sounding" of his, and I also think its probably one of the best albums I've ever heard...not to exaggerate, but it is up there. Damn, I love planet-mu. ov
