Well I presided over a show that was The Perfect Debacle. NO ONE showed up. No. One. And I feel bad about it not because I didn't make any money -- I rarely do -- or that I flyer'ed and poster'ed around town repeatedly -- but because the headliners The Badger King had no audience and they do a really job live, and are in my opinion doing something original and enjoyable. You can hear some of their songs http://www.thebadgerking.com but I think they sound even better loud and live. It's a guy -- steve and a girl -- ritchey -- he holds down the powerbook and airfx duties, she sings and plays a bit of guitar. The result is lovely synthesized and synthetic Pop, with some almost proggish tendencies ... their ear for melody is dead on, and at turns they come off as a less jokey The Might Be Giants, and a warmer, less bug-eyed Devo. Or like Kid 606 discovered song writing ... I don't know. You substitute your own Record reviewer Oxymoron... But anyway they are playing ALL OVER THE PLACE -- all you out there who live in towns like DeKalb IL, North Manchester, In, Ithaca NY, and Jacksonville FL who are always saying nothing interesting comes to your town, go check out the tour schedule and represent. And they're playing places like Cambridge, Brooklyn, and Baltimore for all you urban bohos ... And you Texans step up -- they have a show at Rubber Gloves in Denton on 12/4, but are looking for someplace to play in Austin, Houston, and El Paso. They'd even do a house party. Surely you can get more people in your living room than I was able to get up to Gabe's for them... --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Wow. We've had a few Stained shows with attendance in the very low double digits, but never a complete wash-out. You have my sympathy, Kent.

I just checked out a couple of tracks on their website, and they sound pretty damn cool. They are also playing here in Toronto next Tuesday at a club that is 3 blocks from my house... but Tuesday night is when I do my radio show! Crap! I'll have to swing by afterwards and see if I can at least catch the end of their set or something. 12/4, *sigh* Fucking Rubber Gloves... but I guess they're the only venue interested in booking IDM acts so post-everything Moonites can not show. I'll tell my friends in Austin to try and find a show. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
