Remember that stupid thread about the IDMest car ? Well I think I just bought it : ) Its a mitsubishi Diamante 1992, IDM was first brougt up around that time ;-) Mitsubishi doesn't have retailers in Canada so its an import from the states.. like many IDM cds i buy. It has all kinds of futuristic features for a '92, original CD player ( still working perfect ), cruise control, power seats, ABS brakes, leather interior, mags, V6 202 HP, air conditioning, sun roof, I paid a very reasonable price for it, well its a '92.. but theres only 89 000 miles on the counter.. yup IDMest car, I got it. hehe sorry for all that nonsense, I just dont have any work to do at the office... _________________________________________________________________ Get a speedy connection with MSN Broadband.? Good luck getting a pure EV and keeping it going in the US. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Pure EV? About the "keeping it going" part, it gets about 75 mpg on normal gas, and the diesel versions get about 90mpg, so if that's what you mean, there's no problem there. Plus, there are quite a few rumors that Daimler Chrysler is going to be bringing both the Smart and the A-Series Mercedes (at 11ft in length) over to the US as soon as next year. Some of the rumors are here: http://www.car-truck.com/chryed/buzz/b052401.htm That's just a quick google search. Not sure if a more extensive search will lead to more conclusive (either for or against). I know I'd buy one! -- eggytoast.com -------------- commerce soon: eggtastic.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

The Smart isn't pure EV, though. Pure, as in all-electric, no gas. As in, you have to recharge it somewhere. Interestingly, here in Portland, there is a free EV recharging station outside the power company's office downtown. I've never once seen anyone using it. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Err, it's not electric at all AFAIK. (sorry i'm not up on my car lingo, I assume EV means all-electric? cos the smart is all-gas :D ) I've seen them on the roads here in Maryland -- The Girl and I drove by one on our way out to some national park and I was like "what is that... OH, It's a smart!" So they're on the road here, albeit only via import for now. Apparently DM really wants them over here (mostly for coastal cities), but they're having issues getting it over here without altering the fueling system (something about fuel filters and being too big for the tiny car, or something). derek -- eggytoast.com -------------- commerce soon: eggtastic.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Considering the fact that it appeared on the cover of Jake Slazenger's "Das ist ein Groovy Beat, Ja?" LP in its original version and the involvement of Autechre, Fluke, The Orb, and Stereolab in recent advertising campaigns, wouldn't the "IDMest car" award go to...
