It's great to see there are other people on this list who also like or used
to like metal and hardcore. My original interest in music stems from death
metal and grind/crust core.

To tell you the truth the first time I had ever heard of IDM was when I
asked a clerk at a local record store why all the ambient and sound art was
filed under IDM. When he told me what it meant I laughed rather hard. At
this point I wasn't really into any artists that are frequently mentioned on
this list. Through ambient I became more into stuff mentioned on this list.
