It certainly is! I got through 3 tracks at 8:30 this morning, and had to shut it off and tuck it away. It's rough, but good in that weird noise way, when you stop thinking about any kind of structure, and just pay attention to the aesthetic of sound. For some reason, it made our album of the issue: http://www.absorb.org/reviews/a_satanstornade.html I'd love to see the faces of people that didn't know what it was that casually buy warp discs though. Maybe they'd think its defective. pr absorb ----- Original Message ----- From: "William Samuels" <w_technoir@yahoo.com> To: <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Wednesday, October 02, 2002 7:34 PM Subject: [idm] Masami Akita & Russel Haswell- Satanstornade [Warp]

Thanks for the post & review link. I'll have to keep an eye out for it when it comes out. I've been hooked on the Fennesz/O'Rourke/Rehberg Cd! I notice Fennesz has two more releases coming out, Polwechsel/Fennesz "Wrapped Islands", and Fennesz: Field Recordings 1995-2002 . Any comments on either of these releases? ______________________________________________________ POLWECHSEL/FENNESZ - Wrapped Islands CD [ERSTWHILE] "The predominantly Viennese quartet Polwechsel have exhaustively explored the grey areas between composition and improvisation, electronic and acoustic, jazz and classical for much of the past decade. Austrian Christian Fennesz, while initially a guitarist, is primarily known for his abrasive yet melodic laptop explorations on labels such as Mego & Touch. Wrapped Islands documents the first meeting of these two driving forces. In January of 2002, the five musicians gathered in Christof Amann's Viennese studios for three days of recordings. While the first 3 Polwechsel releases solely contain compositions, this is fully improvised. The warmth and depth of the music induces an illusory simplicity, with different details and passages emerging to the surface with each listen." FENNESZ - Fennesz: Field Recordings 1995:2002 [TOUCH] CD "Field Recordings brings together a range of material Christian Fennesz has contributed to compilations, special projects and film soundtracks between the years 1995 and 2002. Also, for the first time on CD, it includes his debut 12" for Mego, the awesome 'Instrument', remastered, and a new track recorded specially for this release, 'Good Man'. It is his first release since Endless Summer [Mego, 2001] and a prelude to his next studio album." __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? i've been listening to whole 50mins of that cd two days ago and i when this thing finished i felt like i was kicked out of tornado and i felt dizzyness and was so confused and then i wanted to call my brother to tell him how good this cd is and actually typed my cellphone number and was even more confused when i saw my name on display :)))))) you really have to rest a bit after this cd :) and the thing is the more you listen to it more you want it/like it... it's addictive stuff at list for me :) anyways great stuff from warp this time, i loved haswell stuff on mego and a lot of merzbow as well so this is another noisy gem and it's nice to see it from warp... it's mastered by denis blackham who mastered a lot of classic noise stuff from ash international/touch/or and please avoid the note on cd that says : headphone listening at maximum volume is suggested :) bye rob --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
