Do you have any more information on whatever this is? I can't seem to find any information about a new amon tobin release anywhere, at least not before the end of september (and not with that title). -kyle On Mon, Aug 12, 2002 at 07:38:29PM -0600, omz wrote:

I've managed to 'aquire' the new album through the usual channels... It's not as good as supermodified to my ears, but it sounds like a fairly natural extension of it. This is not to say that it's not an excellent album, which it certainly is. I'm crap at describing sounds, but I'd agree with Strictly Kev's comments that it's a bit harder and more electronic sounding than his previous work. The first single 'Verbal' sounds like something people will either love or hate. It has a vocal track, which is heavily chopped up so you can't make out any of the words, but there's still enough of it there to retain it's flow. Hard to explain :) The title I've seen it given is 'transmutator', but I'm not sure if that will be the final title. Either way, after you've heard the first second of the first track, you know it's the real deal... Anyway... I picked up a copy of the Bitstream - Retreat pod 12 this week based on someone's recommendation here... Love it!... Can you guys recommend anything similar? Thanks! Richard Kyle Rawlins wrote:

Only info I have read so far has been on the Ninja Tune forum. This is apparently the real thing. _________________________ omz http://www.hotweird.com/loaf --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I've been downloading tracks from the album denoted as "Transmutator" on Soulseek, and can confirm that at least two of the tracks are remixes: "Cirrosis of the Heart" is his Foetus remix; "Donga" is his "Mosh mix" of Ponga's track "Pick up the pieces of Saturn". I haven't listened closely enough and I don't know _all_ his remixes but I wouldn't be surprised if the other tracks are similarly renamed old stuff. I'm attempting to download "Out, From Out Where" which is on a few people's harddrives on SoulSeek too - not sure how much is genuine there. The Ninja Tune site certainly doesn't mention an album of any name as forthcoming. There is, however, a single forthcoming on the 20th of September (from recollection) called "Verbal". The b-side tracks don't appear on the tracklistings of either "new" album on SoulSeek... So I'm not even sure whether the track named Verbal is genuine. Apologies if this has been discussed - I'm on the digest and have only seen one person say that Transmutator is fake. It surely is. Anyone with any more info on this? Despite the lack of info on the Ninja site, there is indeed an Amon Tobin album of that name forthcoming. It's due out in October.

spose its time for the UK members to jump on the Amon Tobin live discussion thing as he blings down with Mr. John Peel from Radio One @ Fabric Friday 6th December. i'd get down early cause fabric queues are usually long. John Peel has been playing a lot of noise and drum n bass so it should be an intersting nite... i cant imagine my dad playin a bunch of break beat drum n bass n punk noise records on a friday nite & mr peel has been an inspiration to me on more than one occasion that's 4 sure... --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Ah well... it's not all bad... At least now I have a decent collection of b-side and rarities :) Incidentally, I'm downloading a few tracks supposedly from 'out, from out where' at the moment... Verbal is identical to the one I already have, so draw what conclusions you will from that... Thanks for correctling me anyhow... Richard
