Hello f(r)iends,
quoted 1 line all i was saying to sean was: "so what's your point.">all i was saying to sean was: "so what's your point."
My point was that I had to say SOMETHING to come out of my status as a lurker. Geez.
quoted 3 lines i'm not sure how old you are, whether you heard JD before or after you>i'm not sure how old you are, whether you heard JD before or after you > >were >exposed to electronic music or other forms of music.
I heard my first Joy Division song a couple of years ago on a mixtape. This was shortly before I started getting into IDM, and actually a little bit after I even started getting into rock music of ANY kind. I am 21. I agree with your statement about context...it's probably the same reason why I can't get into the Jesus and Mary Chain much either. A lot of bands that peaked during the late-70s/early-80s just don't do it for me, despite their "legendary" status... well? what do we think about this, then? i know it's not quite the same thing, but i'm curious where other idm-ers come down on this one. personally i need a couple of doses of stripped down post-punk a week to feel ok. those first couple of cure records aren't half bad either... j On Thu, 8 Aug 2002, Sean Padilla wrote:

Has this film been discussed on the list yet? It opened here in L.A. just last night, don't know if it opened in New York or U.K. already... I just got home from seeing this movie... I liked it alot - the visual aspect alone can stand on it's own as a work of art. I also think it was a good piece of film work - interesting characters, story. I liked a fair amount of the soundtrack too, don't ya know... If this flick makes it to your town, go see it. Oh, btw... it covers a little history of Joy Division, etc. Lisa b --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
