Hello 2 all, Shaped Harmonics label has released new CD, here is the press release: ------------------------------- Syntetika "100% Syntetika" (p) (c) Shaped Harmonics, 2002 Cat No: SH CD 02 01. Above The Clouds 02. Gliss 03. Levitation 04. At First 05. Paintings 06. Running 07. Dreamota 08. Glaciers 09. Gobi Sundown 10. Traffic 11. Wetrax Moscow independent label Shaped Harmonics is glad to present you the second CD release of the debut album of Syntetika group from Saint-Petersburg. Even though "100% Syntetika" is their first album they already have much experience on the music scene and have a rich music past. Elena, who is a classically trained pianist, got into electronic music in the beginning of 90's. At first it was synthpop, in this period Elena was a keyboard player for "Silence Generator", then it was electronics of Klaus Schulze and finally early works of The Orb, Spacetime Continuum and Autechre. Getting into "new electronica" made an impact on Elena's own creative output. In 1996 she was a part of the first line-up of the Fizzarum group. The track "Wetrax" is a result of their symbiotic work. At this time Vladislav was working as a DJ, actively spinning house records in Saint Petersburg clubs. So, Syntetika can be counted as a realization of a classical formula of co-working DJ and musician. During the last five years Syntetika got its fame regularly playing in clubs and releasing tracks on compilations. The beauty and melody of compositions became a point that they make in music. The musical range of the album is pretty wide: from light atmospheric trance in "Above The Clouds" and classical melodic IDM in "Levitation" to ambient soundscapes in "Dreamota". "100% Syntetika" brings you the mood of harmony and tranquility and with the domination of the soft downtempo rhythms is prescribed for friendly and armchair listening. ------------------------------- I think this album can be recommended to fans of Bola and Global Communication. CD is already available on www.riouxs.com , www.hardwax.com , http://www.electro-violence.com , coming soon in other good places. The next SH CD release: S.P. "Traffic Plane" (SH CD 04) The next expected SH CD release: Vesna "t.b.a." Hello 2 all, Shaped Harmonics label released new CD, here is the press release: ------------------------------- SP "Traffic Plan" (p) (c) Shaped Harmonics, 2002. Cat No: SH CD 04 01. Protoxenus 02. Somewhere On The Horizon Of Events 03. The Constellation Of The Girl I Love 04. The Invisible Rain 05. Dance Of Another Planet 06. Slavonic Rite 07. Robots'n'Roll 08. City Forming 09. Alien World 10. This Is My Galaxy (This Is All I Own) Moscow independent label Shaped Harmonics presents the debut album of a musician from Moscow called SP. Peter Zinoviev, the name behind SP (an abbreviation from Latin Supremus Plastice) is new on the electronic scene. Five years passed from the day Peter, influenced by Kraftwerk and Orbital, started making his first tracks. During this period the musician has experimented with various styles and technologies. Some tracks were made just by using digital sound sources, in others you can hear analog machines and even live vocals. As a result of this creative and technological search this record appeared. Soft electro is a dominant style in the album "Traffic Plan". Dancey but never too fast rhythms and flowing analog bass lines are well mixed with atmospheric synth sounds and melodic arpeggios. Analog electro esthetics of the 80's here goes well with the sound of 90's dance electronica; you can also hear IDM and even breakbeat elements on this album. In spite of having a single musical concept, the tracks are emotionally diverse: energetic and dancey "This Is My Galaxy", intense "Robots'n'Roll", light and relaxed "The Constellation Of The Girl I Love" and slightly melancholic "City Forming". You can't put SP's album into club or home listening category, the album is equally orientated on both. ------------------------------- I think this album can be recommended to fans of Orbital or Pentatonik. The next SH CD releases are coming soon: (SH CD 06) Alexandroid "t.b.a." (SH CD 05) Vesna "t.b.a." (SH CD 03) Novel 23 "t.b.a." OMGIMFUCKINGDEAF JAMIE LIDELL IS PAYING FOR MY RECONSTRUCTIVE EAR SURGURY/HEARING AIDS Shelter has a poor sound system and everything was played at excruciating levels. Tons of foxy broads though. I don't know what the fuck Lidell was doing but it was horrendous. Chris Clark was pretty sick though, so was some of Devine's stuff. Prefuse73 was Prefuse73, I'm kinda getting tired of that sound but he's certainly talented and really knows how to work those knobs and buttons. Dntel was disappointing, I think this was again due to the poor sound quality and terrible mixing levels. Boom Bip impressed me and Vibert ended my night with some choice tunes. LFO got the ravey-dancey peeps going mental with some classic acid house and a little Donna Summer for good measure. All in all it was worth it but the sound quality and sound levels really really sucked ass. HIGHLIGHT: Chris Clark TOILET BOWL: Choice of venue/Jamie Lidell Time for bed, batch --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Jamie Lidell was the bomb!!! It was a bit hard to get into at first but when I did he just blew me away. It's too bad that the soundsystem in that room was as wrecked sounding as it was, I don't even think he knw that it sounded like that. It was still pretty incredible, he puts on a fun show, kinda makes me think of pigbag/prince/afx, that zipper scratching was off the hook. Prefuse played a sweet set, I could feel the floor rumbling beneath my feet, he seemed to be having a good time too. We gave out a ton of flyers, that was good too :-) http://www.recordcamp.com ------Original Message----- -From: disko dali [mailto:zoeymagik@yahoo.com] -Sent: Thursday, August 01, 2002 7:23 AM -To: Matthew E. Totally. Though I have to say that there were moments that didn't gel for me but when he was on, boy was he was ON.... if ya know what I mean. Like when he was beatboxing w/the sax player while simultaneously processing both his voice and the sax in realtime into one funky fucked up jam. Makes me regret passing up on his solo album that came out on warp/spymania two years back. Can't wait to check out the new Super_Collider. Luke Vibert had the masses shaking their collective booty with his DJ set... there was a big chunk off of his great Homewerk 12" on Planet Mu (see www.recordcamp.com for my review) along with past Wagon Christ releases... and some funky weird electronic stuff I didn't recognize. re: volume. I think Aura & Richie Devine surpassed Lidell on the volume level ;) And why don't more people wear earplugs to shows? I mean, you KNOW it's gonna be loud. That is unless you want Panasonic (minus any beats/bass) playing in your ears all the time. Viva tinnitus?
