OK, seriously!! I am new to the IDM list, so bare with me. My question is this: Is anyone on this whole damn list being serious? Seems to me that this list is nothing more than a load of geek sarcasm; then again, maybe that's all we really are. A bunch of sacastic, bitter, music geeks. I sincerely hope not. I got into this music because it was uniquely emotive, unlike most electronic dance music. Is it the "intelligent" factor that is causing all this sarcasm? Are we all so self-absorbed in are own intellectual world that we have forgot how to effectively communicate in a positive, interactive manner. Personally I hate the term "IDM", about as much as I hate the term "electronica". Is everything else stupid dance music? I preferred it when the music I loved didn't have a catagory. Does anyone else agree?

We just bought Disneyland! Parking lot, petting zoo, monorail, we own it all now! Bad news for you is the park is now closed to the public forever. Only Drug Company executives, Platinum status customers, & Drug Company employees of the month will be allowed access beyond the main gate. How does that make you feel? A little sad maybe? We thought you might feel that way based on our demographic research and high level access to your social security account, medical records, credit history, & idm activities. We didn't get to be the biggest Company by being nice guys after all! We make a lot of little kids cry when we don't get our way. So if you ever want to see the guy in the mouse suit again or the audio-animitronic Abe Lincoln (our favorite attraction!) or the Yeti or the Pirates or any of our newly acquired assets won't you reconsider scheduling an appointment with our representative in your community? We really think you are going to enjoy the audio-visual materials he has to share with you and your friends and loved ones. As much as we are dedicated to World Domination we are also all about having a good time and like nothing better than getting old friends together for a few drinks (with the exception of making kids cry and making lots of money). A lot of new Drug Company customers just like you are surprised and thrilled when their representative turns out to be a neat & groovy well groomed young person they already know from work, school, church, or the local dive bar! Psst. Look around ya, kid. Ugly, isn't it? Get out now - save yourself. We're all lifers...heard too much, too often - yet we can't stop. It's like some mad, crazy train stuck wide open, barreling towards disaster and laughing insanely as it goes into the ravine. There's no hope for us. If you don't want to wind up in smoke, ashes and sarcasm like the rest of us, turn tail and get outta town - and don't look back (remember Lot's wife). mxyzptlk (stuck in this dimension) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

yes, we're being serious. we really love scatman joe. and yeah, its geek sarcasm, and we're all music geeks (mom, please don't read this). yes, the intelligent factor changes it all. while others read slashdot, we troll about prodigy, shakira and autechre. yes, everything else is stupid. yes, everybody else agrees. if your email is really your opinion on the list, stay put for a little while longer. you'll see not everyone is a geek. and maybe... JUST MAYBE.. you'll find someone who doesn't dig scatman joe. Sean, Funny you should mention this... I've been on the list for about a year now, and it's been my observation that a majority of the posts do come from a handful of sarcastic, bitter geeks. Then there are those enlightened posts from a handful of positive, thoughtful and intelligent minds, who apparently(and unfortunately) are so busy with creative and productive pursuits other than the list, that we don't hear from them often enough. It is interesting to note that these same individuals are conspicuously absent from flame threads, and such. I would encourage you to stick around Sean. Use your delete button freely. The list is archived if you delete too enthusiasticly. I use a separate email address just for this list, due to volume. In some respects, being on this list could be compared to panning for gold. Hang in there! Lisa Sean Horton wrote:
