Hi all, So I have my Aphex Twin, Squarepusher and Venetian Snares albums and EP's but I guess I need more of that "54 Cymru Beats", "168 bpm", "Come On My Selector" and "Go Spastic" feel... There must be tons of obscure artists making really good stuff out there. Any recommendations are welcome. Thanks, Topher. -- --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Topher, Maybe a little bit more tame than 54 Cymru Beats, but fun nonetheless: http://craque.net/mp3/craque-doorsclosingrun.mp3 (look for this to be released some time this fall) http://craque.net/mp3/craque-6tethirt.mp3 http://craque.net/mp3/craque-nanotechno.mp3 http://craque.net/mp3/craque-spapoopsnacks.mp3 Also make sure you check out Cex and Lesser, also Bogdan Raczynski. Mouse on Mars has quite a few "drill'n'bass" tunes too. :) m (aka craque) http://craque.net On 6/12/02 8:54 AM, "Topher" <topher@france-techno.fr> wrote:

haven't been following this sound for a while now but ones that are a bit older that i have/had that i like(d) are: electric company "studio city" (island) phthalocyanine "navy warship;" and "25 tracks fer 1 track" (phthalo and planet ? respectively) ?-ziq "brace yourself" ep (planet ?) rom=pari "view" (subrosa) leafcutter john "microcontact" (planet mu) (this is more on the autechre-confield weirdness tip but has some similar qualities) lesser/kid-606 "split" (vinyl communications) (has some gabba tracks from 606 on the 2nd half, crazy skipping weird broken (literally) beats from lesser on the 1st half though) venetian snares "songs about my cats" (planet ?) (if you don't already have it) on a side note i might recommend jamie lidell's "muddlin gear" which is by no means drill n bass but has the same appeal to me, completely warped sound and a disregard for genre or accessibility. generally stuff on planet mu is pretty reliable for that sound, as is some of the stuff on phthalo (although my experiences with phthalo are minimal). m.mercer :: design + sound http://www.matthewmercer.com/ _________________________________________________________________ Join the world?s largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I'm always down for some spastic, melodic flava. Those 3 are a cut above the rest in alot of people's opinions, but my recommendations... Bogdan Raczinski Emotional Joystick Curtis Chip Solar-X Khybernaut some Chris Clark some Jega I've got tons and tons of recommendations for more snaresish/breakcore stuff but i don't know if that's really what you're looking for. - cutups ----- Original Message ----- From: "Topher" <topher@france-techno.fr> To: <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Wednesday, June 12, 2002 9:54 AM Subject: [idm] I NEED more Drill and Bass !!!

take a listen to my stuff. there's an mp3 ep on www.kikapu.com, the cellular ep kpu.001 (http://www.kikapu.com/label/releases/kpu001.htm). specifically, 'monosyllable', 'the linear cube' and 'sad statesmen' are very drilly. the other tracks are just plain good. i will release an album this summer probably, so keep an eye out for that too. other than that, i can really recommend mu-ziq's lunatic harness album and brace yourself ep. and, not really idm, but with some great drill action, check out boom boom satellites, a japanese band. incredible stuff really. /adrian (cellular) http://cellmusic.cjb.net
