Well, the Herbert live performance as Radio Boy in Detroit was simply stunning.on top of literally bringing the roof down, he graciously brought along 1000 copies of his CD to hand out for free after his set. I find this really impressive considering how much positive talk he's been getting lately and how much people seem to love his tracks. To not only give away his intangible creative efforts, but to also pay out of his own pocket for physical production/packaging/distribution when he could easily have sold this commercially says a lot about his credibility, beliefs, and ideals surrounding the project. This may have been posted here before, but in case you've missed it in the past; you too can get one of his new Radio Boy CDs by simply sending a SASE to the addresses below. I mean hell, look at that, he even set up multiple addresses around the globe so folks don't have to pay crazy shipping. What a guy. I'm in no way affiliated with his camp, just an excited fan who wants to make sure others like me get an opportunity to check this out. Enjoy! One of the folks in tow with me that evening ended up leaving a bit into the set as she feared asbestos or lead poisoning. She's a bit of a hypochondriac but, the drop ceiling tiles appeared to have been painted black at some point and she was sure it had to be lead paint. That and the building is definitely of a vintage that could have asbestos in it. When the bass really started to kick in (I believe it was the McDonald's track) the tiles began to jump around and a fine rain of dust liberally sprinkled the crowd. At one point in his set, Matthew looked up to see what exactly was falling on his equipment (like he should care considering he was flinging Captain Crunch and Big Macs around) and seemed amused to see the ceiling tiles all askew above his head. So barring the airborne pollutant fantasies of my paranoid friend, I don't think anyone was hurt. It has to be asked...is Radio Boy the Gallagher of electronic music? Ah, if only he wore those fine suspenders and hat! ;-) Leslie Rollins -----Original Message----- From: Christopher Sorg [mailto:csorg@enteract.com] Sent: Tuesday, May 28, 2002 3:24 PM Cc: '313 mailing list'; idm@hyperreal.org Subject: Re: [idm] Free Radio Boy CD for those who didn't make the show. Ironically, this is one of the "caveats" to many electronic musicians: the venue is probably going to rain dust and other particles from the ceiling directly into your gear :D it's actually a pretty decent arguments for having a minimal setup. I am pretty sure, though, that if the place actually had loose tiles containing asbestos and lead, it would've been condemned LONG before it was approved for music shows :D just a blurb derek ------- eggytoast.com ------- with lather thingy --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Hey.. this is the first one of these comparisons that hasn't sucked (mine included).
