I love(d) d'n'b, but must confess I don't hear anything lively within its
nowadays. However its progeny in particular broken beat fascinates (Likwid
Biskit, Seiji, et al). Also, my particular fascination is for the
improvisors who have, rather late (c'97 onwards), been infected by the
breakbeat virus, stand up:
- Erik Truffaz (The Mask, Mantis)
- Nils Petter Molvaer (live, can't bear Manfred Eicher's productions on the
studio releases)
- Rhys Chatham (Hard Edge)
- Graham Haynes (dnb, Wagner)
(all trumpeters, Miles casts a long shadow)
Thanks for the pointer to The Bays, have to give them a listen also.
All the best,
Colin.
