seeking suggested listenings... so, i put on Andreas Tillander the other night, LJUD (?)... when i first bought this cd i very much enjoyed it, but thought i would get tired of it thinking it would become stylistically dated. how wrong i was. this is a really good album. yeah, a lot of folks are exploring the slowlylayering(SND) clickandcuts(clicksandcuts) dub-infused(pole) minimal sonic wallpapering, but i haven't heard much that sounds this good. with the weather rolling around i seek more Tillander-esque muzak, ... feed me! it's gotta have just that little bit of melodic hook, and just that little bit of grooove... thank you obi-wands. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Agreed in spades. It is one of the best examples of doing it right in the genre. Rather than being a novelty record or one which is good in theory, it stands up to repeated plays. IMO the difference is the groove. jeff --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

agreed that Ljud (which means "sound" in swedish) is a great album. other artists i would highly recommend are Farben, whose Starbox just arrived in the mail for me, a beautifully packaged box set of his 4 recent 12" on Klang Elektronik. There is a CD release called "Textstar" which features selections from each of the records. In my opinion, if you've got a turntable, the Starbox is highly worth it. Really intricate and detailed techhouse, glitchy but still has a great groove and some real flair. I would also recommend the "Sequins" release by Tomas Jirku, or the Auch remix CD "Remix Tomorrow Goodbye" which are both solid, both on Force Inc. If you're curious about other Tilliander projects, he also records as Mokira (more clicks&cuts oriented, slightly hip hop inflected, less 4/floor) and Komp (more IDM oriented), and none of it has disappointed me.

Yeah, I actually just picked up the latest Mokira release - 'Plee' on Mille Plateaux. Brand spanking new material in the vein of 'Ljud'. Not exactly the same as.. slightly more free, structurally. Like little bits of the existing track will catch and loop and suddenly become the basis of the track. He used to have an MP3.com page with a bunch of Mokira tracks on it, but it looks like it's gone. Pity. Still got some of the tracks on my PC, and they're really nice. I think a bunch of that stuff turned up on the CD on Raster Noton. On the Reslab compilation from Mitek is besides Tilliander also the very fine Silent Comfort. Also the New Folie have a very good combination from dub, electro and glitch sounds. Also recommended is Si-Cut.db's "Enthusiast" released on Bip Hop. You can read full reviews and find contact information @ http://users.skynet.be/entrepot in the archive on alphabetic order.
