It reminds me a lot Felix Kubin, who contributes in one of the tracks. It's realy a surprise to see DAT Politics doing music that has similarities with bands like Chicks on Speed. The voices are blended with the electronics in a way that reminds me Mouse on Mars. It's a good record, but it's ironic: this is their best record yet, however it's also the one where they go away from the type of sounds that made them unique. new el-p full length is coming out on the 14th. it's good. really good. the music and vocals are, in my opinion, way more involved with one another and intertwined in this than they typically seem to be on the stuff he simply produces... not that the other stuff isn't, just that this album seems much more so. the electronics are weirder, nicer... slightly further out... track 11, "T.O.J." is stunning. i'm left wondering how frequently i'll hear this album called "emo-hip-hop". don't let that turn you off... like i said, i think it's great. saw anticon & kevin blechdom tonight. it was nice. i was hoping it'd be even better than antipop was last week. it wasn't. it was good. but antipop had moments which were absolutely mesmerising. thank god for hip-hop artists who aren't afraid to leave traditional hip-hop bravado behind them... --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
