a couple of weeks back i gave arovane- tides cd a spin again, and cant stop
listening to it, i need more tasty melanchotronics to listen to. can some
one post some good recomendations of artist who make music with guitars or
seasame street styled synth workouts ( think 'freescha' ). whats this style
of music called? i tried looking on the net for 'emo', 'indie rock',
'shoegazer' and 'space rock' but frankly speaking, a lot of information came
up and i dont know where to begin. is there a good website i may wanna check
out?
it be most appreciated if you could post artist names along with a couple of
track names so i can get a taster. ive tried to search the net but its hard
to find stuff that is atuned to my music tastes.
its hard to describe, but i have taken an extreme liking to sounds that are
'medevilish + ambient + mellow + uplifting and melancholic' at the same
time.
heres a breif list of some of the stuff i am listening to ( perhaps it will
give you an idea of where my taste is right now, its mostly synth stuff
which is a shame, because i really NEED more guitar in my diet !)
1. herman and kliene ( i dont like this much)
2. seefeel ( dont like this much)
3. my bloody valantine (loveless, i nicked this tape from my mom's
collection, its so amazing)
4. limp (just heard the track 'orion'. i have a feeling ill like most of it)
5. dntel ( this is lovely but i could do without the annoying vocals)
6. star with eyes (cd from tigerbeat6 which is nice but not mindblowing but
good stuff)
7. arovane ( theme, tides, epilogue,deauville, a secret,thaem nue,lencrade,
yue/ this is what i mean by guitar sound, even
8. though some of the tracks dont have guitar on it. perhaps tweaked out
harpsichord samples?)
9. Ulrich schnauss ( just heard 'nobody's home' i need to listen to him more
before i can decide if its what i like)
10. global goon (just heard this one track from vatican nitez called 'ray
kerbs drives a car. will listen to more, seems very very
nice)
11. o9 (terminal green, now this is a track that owns me, its medevil like
and beatess and just fantastic)
12. nine inch nails (warm place)
13. kettel (pleasent urgence-the best kettel track in my opinion)
14. tim tetlow ('cyrenic' is a mindblowing track for me,i also like: a
massacare pond shut still, the real miracle, written in my
soul, everything is best)
15. freescha ( all of their tracks are good)
16. bola (forcasa3)
17. autechre (vletrmx)
18. aphex twin (rhubarb)
19. plaid (milk, dang spot, dang spot is a track i have been listening to
nonstop for 3 years now. amazing)
20. boards of canada (julie and candy,amo bishop roden)
21. isan (salamander cd)
22. loess (loess cd/ amazing sounds on this cd)
23. merck aurora compilation ( like all the artists on this)
24. md 1 and md 2 compilation ( all the artists on these cds kick ass as
well)
25. bjork (vespertine cd , like the tracks 'pagan poetry' and 'aurora' a
lot)
26. tori amos (boys for pele cd)
