--- I like Hood well enough, but I find The Notwist a bit more to my liking along those lines - although, admittedly, they're not doing quite the same things. Can't forget Lali Puna either. I'm also a fan of Tarwater, but would place them a step farther down the scale than The Notwist in terms of the electronic/indie combination. I guess I find the "songs" more structured and 'hook appeal' more prevalent in Notwist than in Hood. Perhaps it's a more German vs. UK appeal in the swirl. jeff --- yeah the notwist is really good but it's a totally different beast than hood. hood sounds more like typical lofi indie rock with third eye foundation-style electronic layers thrown in. would appeal to those who like/liked pavement, sebedoh, slint, (maybe) sonic youth, etc etc. pretty sure hood is also downpour, which is fairly vicious and abstract dnb... notwist is much cleaner and has more of a cologne-techno/mouse on mars influence. if you like lali puna, you'd probably be into this. and speaking of the notwist, any recommendations on albums other than shrink (which i really really like)? ethan Is your boss reading your email? ....Probably Keep your messages private by using Lycos Mail. The other Notwist albums that I know are "12" (the one before "Shrink") and "Neon Golden" (the latest one). Both are OK, but really the masterpiece there is "Shrink". You can try "Neon Golden", it's easy to find and got very good reviews overall, but listen beforehand as it might be disappointing. However, other bands sharing members with the Notwist are worth getting into like the Tied & Tickled Trio (more jazzy, try the latest "Electric Avenue Tapes" and work your way back if you like it) and Village of Savoonga (more "post-rock", start with "Score" and work your way back as well). TTT have a remix album as well, which would be the most IDM one I guess, but I haven't heard it. --------- Agreed (and didn't I mention that?) that Hood and Notwist are apples and oranges, but I still find The Notwist something I go back to more than Hood - as with Lali Puna (didn't I mention that as well?).
