I like Hood well enough, but I find The Notwist a bit more to my liking
along those lines - although, admittedly, they're not doing quite the same
things. Can't forget Lali Puna either. I'm also a fan of Tarwater, but
would place them a step farther down the scale than The Notwist in terms of
the electronic/indie combination. I guess I find the "songs" more
structured and 'hook appeal' more prevalent in Notwist than in Hood.
Perhaps it's a more German vs. UK appeal in the swirl.

yeah the notwist is really good but it's a totally different beast than hood. hood sounds more like typical lofi indie rock with third eye foundation-style electronic layers thrown in. would appeal to those who like/liked pavement, sebedoh, slint, (maybe) sonic youth, etc etc. pretty sure hood is also downpour, which is fairly vicious and abstract dnb... notwist is much cleaner and has more of a cologne-techno/mouse on mars influence. if you like lali puna, you'd probably be into this. and speaking of the notwist, any recommendations on albums other than shrink (which i really really like)?
