Has anyone here listened to the new Hood CD? I think its the best attempt at combining electronics and indy rock. It reminds me of the best elements of Vespertine, Kid A, Mogwai and Slowdive's Pygmalion. Radiohead should pay attention! _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Finally got a copy of 'Duck-Rabbit.' Fantastic design, I just love Rune Grammafone. I want them to redesign my... my... everything. I've almost ordered other artists from them based on their packaging alone, anyone care to pass on any pointers or reviews? On first blush D-R sounds more focused, almost more Boards of Canada, then Alog's first (Red Shift Swing) -- I even hear elements that echo drum & bass. But this step towards more general accessibility doesn't hide their gleeful use of mutated and mutilated source... so tasty! Please, someone point me towards something similar... (free association comes up with Curd Duca's Elevator 3 and maybe Philip Jeck, but I already know those...)! aaron ghede@well.com http://www.quietamerican.org --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I like Alog a lot too, design of the Rune Gramophon releases is done by Kim Hiorthoi whose records are good as well. best ::: philippe | 0000 \\\\.. \\\\ __ http://www.bip-hop.com _---| 0000 \\\\..\\\\ contemporary electronica challenging the ears and the mind --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Unfortunately I can't think of anything quite like Alog... no, nothing at all. The best bet would be to try some others on the Rune Grammofon label -- certainly the Phonophani album, and also the Luigi Archetti and Bo Wiget which, despite being largely improvised, is just as opalescent as DuckRabbit. You also might like Monolight's new one (from Rune himself). The only similar recommendation I might make is the Aero or Anderegg albums on Apestaartje (www.staartje.com) -- more microsoundy, more minimal, but I detect a certain affinity for RG-esque sounds there. An offshoot of Alog. Also recommendable (if you find it) is the Mykedroner 7" from Dag Are haugan. Recently there has been a rerelease of a 12" from Velma which including extra remixes by Alog, Pluramon, Köhn, Bruce Gilbert etc... Worth to check it out. I've heard some talk about an Alog 12" on Stetic Records as well, but I don't know more about it.

Totally agree in full! Fantastic album. Have tried to figure out what "genre" they should be called (well, haven't spent too much time on such a thing) but have come up blank. They do so many things that so many other people have done (ie: field recording pricessing, guitar and electronics, mini-sliced up beats, etc. ) but they do it in a totally unique way. They have their own site up with a downloadable MAx/MSp standalone app. but it uses Midi... -donna _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
