[idm] Schematic vs. Infiltrate
permalink · <B8B55458.73AC%evil@cirex.net>
This was forwarded to me by Steven Castro (founder of Infiltrate). Please don't send replies to me as I'm not associated with either camp: ---------- The anti-conference......... Schematic was invited to Infiltrate, to play with Adult. on Friday but turned it down because the venue was too hot and didn't have a bathroom upstairs plus they didn't like the sound system at Churchill's (where the main Infiltrate event is held). Turns out the real reason was they finally admitted was they their own proper Winter Music Conference event in the trendy South Beach area so they can be near all the industry action, hence the name Laptops & Martinis. They created their whole line-up and went to look for a venue on the beach but either couldn't find anything or what they couldn't find a suitable place. So not having a venue and they came back to infiltrate asking to be part of it but with their own idea of transplanting their line-up as is into the main room at Churchill's (the same place with the supposed bad sound system). The problem was that the night was already structured weeks prior to be a techno/electro evening in the main room as well as the middle bar, and the IDM act would be in the back area. They didn't want to split their line-up to conform with what was already planned so they were told that it would be better if they continued to look for their own seperate venue, something they were originally going to do anyway. The problem here is they are not more special than anyone else at Infiltrate, every artist and dj is seen as equal, no matter local or foreign, every year a group of people work together for a common goal and that is to bring offer a real alternative to the WMC not be part of it, hence the name Infiltrate. Also all these dealings with Schematic and Infiltrate were dealt with through a third person because Schematic refused to confront the founders of Infiltrate directly. Infiltrate has a clear concept and goal not a place for label showcases and promotions, we have no time for egos, pride, selfishness and arrogance (putting an event like this takes alot of time and team players), especially from Schematic which has been one of the labels aound for the longest in Miami and should be setting the example. Now they chose to do their party on the same night as ours, they are more than welcome to do so, there is no competition or bad feelings and we wish them well. We've done this event with and without them for the last 4 years and next year will be a new and maybe we'll be working together again. This message is to answers questions raised by supporters and to squash any bullshit before it starts. Both parties on Sunday are very low in price, so ther is no reason to not support both events. There is no proof of entry at Infiltrate at any of our shows. We will post the line-up and the schedule at the event and on our website a day or so before the event (and hopefully they will too) so you can plan ahead. Bottomline is Miami is the spot to be on that weekend. http://www.infiltrate.info thanks to every one on this list that has ever supported any of the Miami labels or events, Steven Castro (founder of Infiltrate) Support truth and self-respect will follow. infiltrate@pl3x.com ps199@bellsouth.net http://www.pl3x.com http://www.betabodega.com http://www.counterflowrecordings.com http://www.m3rck.net http://www.etihad.com http://www.mustdelicious.com http://www.algocentral.com http://www.dopamine.cc http://www.schematic.net http://www.counterpointgarments.com http://www.ersatzaudio.com ---------- --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I love it! such a small community should be supporting each other, perhaps finding a big venue for boh to co-exist, I'm going to be there for either one, i just find it sadly typical. Hopefully you will decide to expand in a harmonic collective sans the politics that limits you. much love, otomi/(you know who) --- Christopher Miller <evil@cirex.net> wrote:
