Is there a Ministry of Disinformation, Tricksterism and General Tomfoolery
presence on this mailing list? Who cares if BOC is gay and if WARP sucks
or not. If you like it, buy it. If you don't, you'll probably download
it anyhow. Let's get to some real content.
So, first question is, what is the function of gossip? If much of our
(society's) discourse is focused on gossip, it must serve some useful
function.
Two. Dumbtype. Is there anyone who knows just how loud Ryoji Ikeda
plays the music? I thought it was really loud and just fine by me ;), but
a coworker and his wife were _so_ offended by the volume that they took
the entire experience as an assault and pretty much hated it. I
couldn't see it being any louder than a typical concert
experience, just intermittent and shocking. Personally I feel that it's
good that some music is reaching out and grabbing people by the balls (so
to speak), not just allowing them to be passive consumers. But is this
dangerous? Unsafe? Unethical? What other work runs in this strain, and
in what other ways can music "attack" you besides noise/volume?
