Many thanks to the person who listed the new Aesop Rock album in a "now playing." I've been an occasional fan of his since I heard about him from the Prefuse 73 album, and I decided to look into the new album. Very refreshing, intelligent hip hop and rap. When I think of good rapping hip-hop, Aesop Rock immediately springs to mind for me now :D For the hip-hop fans, I'd highly recommend this album. For those interested in more "intelligent" hip hop, I'd also highly recommend this album. It's being recorded to MD right now, so I can bop around :D thanks again to whoever posted the FYI! derek ------- eggytoast.com ------- with lather thingy --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I am a longtime Aesop Rock fan, perhaps the only one who doesn't care for his newer material. Someone posted that "Float" is his first album ... it is in fact his third, preceded by "Music For Earth Worms" and "Appleseed." I think "Float" is certainly the epitome of his sound and style, but the first two are exceptional as well (he is also on a track with Atmosphere's Slug and MF Doom on the Molemen compilation whose name I can't remember at the moment). Although he lacks somewhat in the stage presence area (he tends to stand in one place staring upward), he is flawless in his execution and delivery (believe it or not he can spit all the verses he does on his albums with studio punch-ins). --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

If you like so much "Labour Days", you should try the Aesop Rock first album "Float". It's even better. The problem is that "Float" it's not easy to find, I think now you can only get it in vynil... Anyway, I fully agree with you. Cheers Cesar

I know it is a bit late, but for those of you into thought-provoking hip-hop (as mentioned in the Aesop Rock thread), do yourselves a favor and PLEASE pick up the new Five Deez album "Koolmotor" on Counterflow Recordings. Producer Fat Jon flawlessly blends hip-hop, jazzy downtempo, fractured breaks, and even deep House tracks amidst a plethora of MC style and turntablist tricks. His solos effort called "Fat Jon as Maurice Galactica presents Humanoid Erotica" is absolutely off the fuckin' chain like a rabid escapee Doberman...er, or something like that. Just pick it up. Late, J~

Yep, look out for Def Jux...the Cannibal Ox release sounds like what Funkstorung would do if they made a straight-up New York style Hip-Hop album...ill.
