was wondering how everyone out there acquires their music; in other words how do you determine what you get on vinyl as opposed to CD as opposed to "simply" MP3 myself i'm a vinyl connoisseur when possible, but have ample quantities of the other formats but sometimes when a new full-length comes out i debate whether it's necessary to obtain the wax version; guess the question is if the music will be used during DJ sets and turntable mixing rather than simply home/car listening... then again vinyl is the unique medium which can be most easily transferred to both CDR and MP3 thanks for the input _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

the rest- i go for mp3s in the car, on the walkman, even at home when you live in a City that never sleeps- all those invironments they are noisy enough so mp3 of a decent bitrate is a way to go. cd format was invented by record companies to squeese money from the public i mean, cmon, $17 for 12 track that most of the time are not worth even the time you kill to listen to the crap! In the future those artists and labels who will be selling at the rate $1 for one hour of music- they will prosper __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Here's an interesting essay that a lot of have probably already seen (it's pretty old), but whatever. It talks about how artists and consumers are alike are getting screwed by artificially inflated prices for CDs. http://www.negativland.com/minidis.html --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

mp3 is "ok" but only for imperfect hifi. I listen to mp3 when i just want background music but for serious listening it just dosent cut the mustard. It lacks real depth , but hey you dont always listen to music on top equipment. I buy cd or record if i like music enough... otherwise you dont get all the music really , you get a facade.......................... ----- Original Message ----- From: "s r" <svinrave@yahoo.com> To: <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Saturday, February 09, 2002 10:49 PM Subject: [idm] for dj-ing i guess vinyl could be very good
