What the fuck is wrong with you people!!!
can we be a tad more cosmopolitan here. Anyway, what is this referring to,
when did they say they were gay?
In regards to the album, I liked it. The changes in style are very subtle as
are the additions to their sound palette. I don't think it's always the goal
of a musician to constantly flip the scripts and drastically change or
evolve their sound. One may say that the progress seems slow here but that
would seem to match the mood of the music. BOC makes introverted "downtempo"
brooding music and they do it really well. There are about 5 or 6 tracks on
that record that are definite classics and very dance floor friendly, I
think that's a really good ratio. The other tracks are great listening
tracks.
Everyone complains about the fact that autechre just doesn't sound like
autechre did in the old days well, BOC is still BOC, maybe that's a good
thing.

p.s. there are photos on the site from last weeks boc listening party in
NYC.

Ut-O!......please don't mention that horrible word......
I agree that it is a music thing....and that ones sexual preference
shouldn't matter, but it does in some way.
Why the hell would they mention they were gay, if it wasn't an issue(not
said about BOC directly).......
Its my goal, determination, and ambition to wrestle this music out of the
hands of those marketing folks who solely promote it to them baddies!.......
If its a personal issue, and it is, keep it between you and your husband.(I
find it funny in just the thought of a dude in the position of a
woman.......that's just comedy and depicts how and what damaging effects
low-self esteem can have on a human)

first things first, and since this is about the music and not about personal
choices, i thought i'd give my opinion on the album. it doesn't suck.
however, the ambient does remain from previous albums, which makes it sort
of boring for people who don't listen to boards of canada like they should
(and if you do, you know what i mean -- no, this doesn't involve
"substances"). anyway, its a pretty good album (high times at 1969 and "the
beach at redpoint"), though i don't understand the need for the filler
tracks all the time.
the being-gay-thing is one of the issues that i really don't get. being
straight, i've always lacked the understanding needed to cope with gay
relationships, however, i totally disagree when the "gayness" is said to be
a bad thing for the kind of music we're talking about here. if they truly
are gay, f*ck that, i like their music, thats it. and blaming them for being
gay, when we're talking about music, is going totally out of scope.
