Well, it does. What a complete letdown. I realize diversity and progress have never been BoC's strengths, but this is really going too far. It's like a compilation of throwaway b-side tracks from their past 6 years of releases. Not a single track jumped out at me. It's a seemingly endless cycle of boring 4-minute track, even more boring 1-minute filler track, boring 4-minute track, boring 1-minute filler track.. on and on in a mind-numbing, soul-crushing downward spiral of mediocrity. Way to make the most of that ~4 years between albums, guys. It REALLY shows. i think tha BoC are geniuses. i loved geogaddi and it's been on constant rotation since i downloaded a bootlegged copy, burned it onto a cd and put it into my cd player. Rip. Mix. Personally, I like gay people. I think it's always a good idea to keep a couple of queer friends around - they tend to have good fashion sense, and have been known to say something interesting from time to time. (eg. Matmos) I might point at this point that, in addition to being high on cocaine for most of the 70s (please see the "idm & substances" thread if you're confused), David Bowie also played with other men, behaving bisexually and proclaiming at one point that he was completely gay. Of course, now he's not anymore and instead is married to Iman and has a little daughter. How much straighter can you get? So, to sum up, gay people nice to have around, but I wouldn't want to be one, and David Bowie came up in two separate IDM threads in one day! This message was brought to you by the number 6, the greek sign for Delta, and the letter Y. (And we all know what that says when you put it together.) BTW, this was all just a joke. Actually, I hate gay people, and wish they would stop having sex with me. .adam __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Send FREE Valentine eCards with Yahoo! Adam, this one's for you: http://www.theonion.com/onion3604/sucking_my_cock.html "Look, I'm not a hateful person or anything—I believe we should all live and let live. But lately, I've been having a real problem with these homosexuals. You see, just about wherever I go these days, one of them approaches me and starts sucking my cock..." Actually it is a common knoweledge among critics that his recordings are not of a high level- you can check even smth so mainstreamish as allmusic.com. Regarding Bowie, you have to consider not only the time he was recording but also the sheer volume of work he has produced. Say what you want about him or about his music, but his influence, particularly in the mid-late 70's, to electronic music is fairly significant.

Interesting that you like only the most accessible, most commercial work of his.

There are so many facets to music, recordings, and sound that this comment doesn't make a lot of sense to me. In fact, some of the most notable catalysts in modern music have less to do with slick production and engineering and more to do with new ideas and lo-fi sensibility. Witness house music and the beginnings of Detroit techno for an example of this (also punk, ska, rock and roll, etc.). Check out Station to Station (1976) or Low (1977) -- these are two of my favorite albums of Bowie's. --- Tom Butcher --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

it's the same shit happening on and on and on. it was so with the new autechre, with 'drukqs' and now. it's not amusing, it's tiring, and very RIDICULOUS. full stop. bias. http://bias.underground.hu xpn-voice-added-contact:/dev/70/312/9708 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
