how is Laika classified? ... as a "dog"
the band? i would say they were sort of birthed around the original
trip-hop vibe of bringing dance music textures and tones and energy to more
traditional song crafting. there's singing and stuff, and the mood is
pretty heavy, but still warm. the musicianship is pretty top notch and they
combine a lot of different elements (both style and instruments) very well.
the only album i ever bought was SoundsOfSatellites, which is very good.
and i wanted to get GoodLookingBlues (?), but i don't think it ever got
domestic release in the states.
i saw them on the second at Lollapalooza back in the day. they seemed to
kick some ass live.
a more interesting question is "what's the story behind their name?"...
