Check out http://www.monolake.de/live/ontour0.html It looks like Robert Henke is going to be in Anaheim. I can't tell if is going to perform or just show off his Software? [ January 2002. 17-20 Robert Henke presents Ableton Live at NAMM show, Anaheim , USA ] ---------------------------- Ableton Live 1.0 sequencing instrument Live 1.0 is revolutionary new music software. Live allows for real time performance and manipulation of soundfiles and loops with a degree of freedom never reached before by any other software or hardware. It comes with a collection of very cool, very monolake like effects, it has ASIO , VST, it runs on Mac and PC , it can be controlled and synced via MIDI, it is easy and fast to use ... And it has been developed amongst others by monolake`s Gerhard Behles and Robert Henke. Gerhard Behles is one of the founders of the company and Robert Henke is a driving force in the conception and development team. If it would be hardware you would propably find some chips in it called "monolake effects driver" or "ML X 504" ( what ever this would mean... ) Live is based on ideas which came up during music production and performance over the last years. If you are looking for the spirit of monolake you should play with the effects section, especially with Grain Delay, Filter Delay, Vinyl Distortion, and other more exotic plug ins. They have been developed by Robert Henke and have been used e.g. widely on "Gravity" __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Send FREE video emails in Yahoo! Monolake is playing clonk in Toronto on Feb.8th and a Montreal gig around the same time. I don't know if he is doing any other dates but if anyone is looking to book Robert they should contact http://www.remoteagency.com/ as I believe they handle him in North America now. The rip off artist is also playing at that NAMM show. ~g -- Greg Smith http://www.technowest.org http://www.laiad.com http://www.mediawhore.cc <-- coming soon to a theatre near you on 1/12/02 1:40 AM, William Samuels at w_technoir@yahoo.com scrawled:

Hi All, I just watched tron again, and was appreciating wendy carlos's score when a part of it clicked and I realised that someone had ripped off a really rather large chunk of the music (from the scene where flynn explains the death of ram to tron, about 70minute in) on some album I had been listening to about a week previously, unfortunately I can't remember which CD it was... The music is great, deep menacing synths frowling with icy clarinet style synths on top. Does anyone know what its from? cheers georgewilliamson --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

The Tron track you're talking about is probably "Sea of Simulation". Jega basically did a cover version (I think that's the best way to describe it) of it. His track is called "Alternating Bit" and it's on the Geometry album on Planet Mu records (ZIQ012). -skkatter __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Somebody else on the list mailed me suggesting that Jega just sampled a big chunk of that Tron track (Sea of Simulation) but if you check out the original track (http://www.tronfan.com/mp3/) and then listen to Jega it's pretty different, but still "the same track" in a way. I haven't heard that "Warriors of the Wind" track you're talking about, where's that at? -skkatter (PS, the Tron soundtrack is out of print and was never released on CD so I don't believe posting mp3s of it is such a bad thing) __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? hmmm... not entirel certain, but it (the "the worriors of the wind" track) might be called "nausicaa"... no idea what it's on. a friend and i were watching childhood movies and he recognized the sample and showed me the mp3 he had of it. weird samples of little kid voices singing, but jega's version is pretty dissonant compared to the original. ----- Original Message ----- From: "skkatter" <skkatter@yahoo.com> To: <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Monday, January 14, 2002 10:21 AM Subject: Re: [idm] Tron music (OT)
