I'm really digging hearing M?m every time that Sony
Vaio commercial comes on...
Also digging the new Ilkae album on Merck, "Pistachio
Island". 44 tracks! "Best Heard In Shuffle Mode" ...
I'm too obsessive compulsive to listen to any CD out
of order, but the music is great, hedging along the
lines of the Machine Drum hip-hop infused idm style,
and foraging into ambience and "straight" idm at
times. Lush and intriguing, and if you're always
complaining that your favorite IDM star just writes
tracks that are way too long (5 and 6 minutes? How do
they expect you listen to the whole thing?!), here's
an album of shorties made just for you. Personally, I
like to take a while to get into a track, if it's not
too simplistic, but played all at once this disc kinda
works as one long piece with a lot of different
movements and moods... Well, kinda.
Anyway, check it out.
As for the Miscellany, anyone get that new 2xCD comp
on Neo Ouija yet? "Cottage Industries 2?" Supposed
to have a Proem track, hint hint...
And if you haven't already heard (I would forward
these things but I'm always somewhere else when I
think of it), Merck will be releasing on vinyl a
select few tracks from N5MD's MiniDisc-only
compilation "MD2". Whee!
Really, now, when we have great labels like Component
and Merck delivering the goods, who really cares about
Grandfather Warp?
