Not sure exactly what you mean by that, but, and without going into technical terms here, there are clear distinctions as to why soulseek can't really be shut down/filtered like napster/ag were. I think legally it's pretty much in the clear (although who knows with the kinds of rulings that go on in the states). Though I'm sure you realize this Adam, I think it is worth mentioning that Nir does give people the option to make a donation. The way I see it, I have definitely saved a sizeable chunk of cash by previewing albums before buying them. I've sent him money - In fact, since I get much more use out of Soulseek than I ever got out of my EMusic subscription, I'm cancelling the latter and paying the money to the former... But it's not a business, and the server is donated by enthusiastic users... Kind of like an advanced version of an underground FTP server for electronic MP3s, and I've had access to those in the past and they always disappear. There's more of a community around Soulseek, so maybe that will give it staying power, but I don't see any reason not to explore other options while supporting Soulseek.
