Hey all, Just thought i'd ask if anyone here knew of something interesting going on in Hong Kong and/or Taiwan during the first 2 weeks of December. It is difficult finding much on the net happening in these places. Suggestions? thanks in advance! ps- i know of Technasia already ;-) __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Make a great connection at Yahoo! IDM in Hong Kong? BWAAAHAAAHAAHAA!!!! Oh, wait. You're serious, right? Well, I lived there for a year and Derrick May was about as intelligent as they ever had there. The party was at one of the most (in)famous clubs in Hong Kong called Pink and there were maybe 200 people there... But you should check out Digital Cutup Lounge while in town. DCL plays live occasionally and it's always a good show. The last one I attended was the record release party at a new small club in the Midlevels called Blush. For Hong King events, your best bet is to check out the free rags like HK magazine or BC magazine. You can go to most coffee or desert shops and pick one up. They'll have pretty much everything in there that's going on. I don't know the first thing about Taiwan. I hope you can speak Mandarin though or else you're going to find it rather tough to find anything other than the super cheesy and trendy clubs. Come to Tokyo if you know what's good for you. That's where I live now and it's a WORLD apart from the rest of asia. I've seen Tikkiman play live. I saw Monolake play live. Tonight Carl Finlow is playing live. I've seen DJ Kensei and Ken Ishii DJ. In a couple weeks there's a party with Aphex Twin and Fat Boy Slim... The list is neverending! I have to choose between several good parties every weekend. It's INSANE (but expensive)! -rbc3 --- Noah Jurcin <phonaut@yahoo.com> wrote:

I'd have to agree with Robert here. Hong Kong's music scene is pretty grim unless your tastes extend no further underground than the N'Sync, and IDM is more or less non-existent. Digital Cutup Lounge is indeed a good bet, though. I caught them a while ago at the Jazz Club in Lan Kwai Fong, battling it out with a live jazz band. Pretty good stuff. If you do happen to find anything of interest while you're in Hong Kong, I'd love to hear about it. Good luck, Andrew
