there have been so many...so many turned out to be one night stands...short and random mornings after: "white album" beatles : i was twelve...the weary bitterness of this album...pop mixed with crap. I didn't understand why it sounded new at the time. the sound of the sixties dying. "switched on bach" walter carlos : at the time all those sounds were astonishing. then I learned how quickly synth sounds get old. "switched on bach" is still engagingly quirky, but seems like some old gizmo from the attic. "key" meredith monk : found this at the library when i was 14 or so. i was appalled then excited by this early meredith monk record. it was purposely lo-fi, featured alarmingly repetitious electronic organ, as well as monk's eccentric baby-woman vocalizing. it was my first brush with the minimalists working in Soho in the early 70's, and i knew i was breathing the air of a different planet. k --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I think it was already mentioned, but I must say that Aphex's RDJ album is one of the "newest" sounds albums produced. And from what I've heard of Drukqs, it still will be for a time to come. At least for me. Some of Autechre's stuff sounds very new, particularly Envane, perhaps because its a bit minimal and is very clear. At any rate listen to RDJ on some really good headphones. My friend heard Nanou2 off of Drukqs, and found it so melancholy that he asked me: "Does Aphex have cancer?" --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I just Drukqs today from a good guy out in NYC who got it as an "advance"....when is the release date set for? If anyone isnt sure about the artwork and sound.... Im going to work on uploading the images and reviewing the album to a website that I'll post to the list for anyone interested. I must add that I am NOT a reviewer, but I am a musician so the review may not be that gripping as far as a journalistic approach, but I think I have a few things to say about the musical aspects of it... It may be a few days though, Im pretty tied up at the moment. xh ===== Kounterakt in constant evolution.http://www.kounterakt.cjb.net ("Industrial",Rock, Experimental, I.D.M.)Circle Of Anxietyhttp://www.cofanx.cjb.net (should appeal to fans of all sorts of I.D.M.) __________________________________________________ Terrorist Attacks on U.S. - How can you help? Billy Stiltner - Nanobot Velocity Factor http://www.mp3.com/billystiltner Thats one of my albums. It still sounds new to me and it's 2 years old. Some of the songs are 5 years old abd one has a 10 year old melody. heck maybe i should change the subject to old songs that sound new. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
