I haven't seen this pop up in anyone's "currently rocking my world" list, so I thought I'd mention it--it's the Andreas Tilliander "Ljud" LP on Force Inc. Really great fragmented rhythms and blunt sounding bass with those crazy clicks ("errors," Force Inc calls them) to top it off. To me the album has a real "skeletal" feel to it, like there's underlying rhythms and textures that are implied in the tracks, but not stated. The songs leave themselves open to interpretation, it's kind of like they make you do the work (I don't know if that makes sense, but...). I think the tracks have a truly authentic "dub" feel to them--they just have that pulsing, restrained energy that I love about dub--it's like they're waiting to explode or something. While a lot of stuff pays lip service to dub, this is a lot closer to a true dub feel, if you ask me. So anyway, if that kind of stuff floats your boat, check it out (sounds especially great on vinyl--all those warm pops and stuff!). Andy

Yes i wholeheartedly agree. I posted my kudos on the Andreas Tilliander album back in March and it's STILL just as impressive a listen as it was the first time. His Mokira cd on Raster is also good but it a different way from Ljud. The Mokira stuff is still dubby but even 'more' skeletal to the point where much of the tracks are almost 'implied' where you can hear in your head what sounds would have been in the icy spaces between the notes. I also have the new Mokira 7" on order. i'm interested to see what sound Tilliander will undertake on that one. It's limited to 100 so whatever sound he does try wont be heard by too many. but dont worry. i'll let you all know what you missed. : ) Also coming soon from Andreas Tilliander will be a split 12" with Mikael Stavostrand (who does some pretty good experimental techno-dub himself) and a track on the Reslab compilation both on Stavostrand's own Mitek label.
