Is Lali Puna anything like Laika? I've heard two Laika albums and I was wondering if Lali Puna's music is similar, with the female vocals, irregular beats/timing and some electronic sounds. Either way, I'm interested in hearing some stuff by them. -Sharon --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

There are some similarities. I also hear a bit of Stereolab and perhaps Broadcast in Lali Puna. But they have some very unique edges as well. All comparisons aside, Lali Puna is really good. Especially their upcoming album "Scary World Theory" (out in mid-Oct). Lali Puna is much much much better than Laika... Me I prefer Laika philippe BiP-HOp Generation v. 3 [bleep 05] The series is truly a document of today's creative forms of Electronica. 14 exclusive songs, musically packed with almost 80 minutes, the composers are each given much longer amounts of time to showcase their talent. Even for those who think there should be a moratorium on Electronica compilations, this is worth checking out. Well, I've had the opportunity to hear a bit of Lali Puna now. A couple tracks from Clearcut and from Tridecoder. I must say I quite like it! :-) Thanks to those who recommended... I also realized that I already had Lali tracks on Putting the Morr Back into Morrissey and on Suction's Snow Robots Vol. 1. But those tracks are not as enjoyable as the Clearcut/Tridecoder ones. Looking forward to hearing Tridecoder and the new October release. I'll have to do some research now ....and I'll be on a Lali Puna thing for the next couple days! ~sharon~ --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Theres also that new Lali Puna track with Bomb the Bass on Morr. It's awesome, especially the Hermann and Kleine mix. On Thu, 16 Aug 2001, Sharon Clarke wrote:
