hi, ive tried warp, forced exposure, other music, amazon, cdnow, buymusic, get music, and cd universe and no place has autechre's 'envane' anymore.. havent seen one on ebay, either.. anyone have any idea where i can get a cd of it? Try gemm.com, I searched there and found numerous entries for envane. Try gemm.com I was able to find multiple entries for envane (12" even) This is also a GREAT site to find other hard to find stuff. If a CD is desired, I just bought mine from warpmart. It is half way down the list on http://www.warprecords.com/warp/ , it is WAP89. Interestingly, it is also showing WAP150 "Peel Session 2" which I did not think was out (although I could very easily be wrong).

i can ;-) actually there has been some talk about the difference on this very list a millennium ago. otherwise i wouldn't have looked for it in my favourite shop. i did, and voila!

the labels and the cover are absolutely identical. you can tell the version by the scribblings carved in the record near the run-out groove 'WAP 89 XAE-1-1-' the difference is in the ending of 'laughing quarter' (track 3 on cd), after the break around the 6 minute mark. the xa=cd version goes quite straight, whereas the xae version's rhythm has stumbles and hickups and shuffles(?) a little. nothing to lose sleep about. but different anyway.

I'm not like that at all. While it may be severely un-idm of me to not purchase music exclusively online, it's the happy accidents that I chance upon in the music stores that keep me coming back....
