This is likely to already be common knowledge, but I just discovered where Aphex got "Alberto Basalm" from. I was taking a shower at a friends house only to discover a bottle of shampoo labeled with the great song's name. "INKEY$ is a command in the BASIC computer language. It is a device I/O function that reads a character from the keyboard. It INputs a KEY and sends it to a STRING variable." (I knew this from the aphex faq)

It's a type of inhaler medicine for asthmatics. I get a light asthma at times, but I use Albuterol (i think!). "salbutamol" as in the "salbutamol mix" is another type of asthma medicine I believe. I haven't tried to figure it out, but it looks very like an equation for an inverse Fast Fourier Transform (something which is used a lot in DSP programming and thus digital synthesizers). There are a lot of additive sounds on that track so my guess is that the formula was lifted from the documentation of whatever process was used to generate the sounds, perhaps something like Metasynth.
