Ok, so it's not an album but DJ Aura's set last Thurs. at Record Camp was a mind blower. If you thought IDM was only 'bedroom/headphone' music then you have to hear him spin. I'd list tracks but um... I was having too much fun to remember. There was an amazing sequence where he cut up Tour De France with something I didn't recognize and later some classic Tango N' Vectif/Bluff Limbo u-ziq. Otomi played a very nice set as well... Aphex sliding into BOC, anyone? hs --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Most recent album to blow my mind would be Susumu Yokota's Grinning Cat. Can't talk this one up enough. The man makes the most engaging ambient, it's amazing. I've never really liked ambient before, and who knows - maybe this doesn't qualify or something. But it's just so good! Precious piano loops in the beginning, sad sax on Tears Of A Poet, frightening flute on Fearful Dream - this is easily in my top ten for the year. -Adam _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? If you love that album, get Sakura, his first ambient album. That's the album that's captivating me right now (i bought both) rather than Grinning Cat, but don't get me wrong, Grinning Cat is excellent. Sakura is good enough to stand along side Biosphere's Substrata and Aphex Twin's two ambient records as some of the better ambient music released this side of Brian Eno. -mark Adam Piontek wrote:

his first ambient album was 'image' released on his own skintone label and then over here via Leaf, its got some lovely acoustic ambient stuff with very odd vocals and as have most of his albums released on skintone his own artwork. the second ambientish album is 'magic thread' also on skintone then Leaf and probably my favourite. if you like sakura i'd recommend them both... does his artwork get him a shout as most idmest artist ?
