Not really on topic, as it's not IDM...
But the recent album by Portland OR's HOCHENKEIT (pronounced
"Hoaken-kite") called "Omu4h 4aholab / 400 Boys" is quite the fun drone
avant rock accomplishment... far better than anything I've heard from
Godspeed You Black Emperor or the side projects thereof. It's one of
those albums that levitates *you* as opposed to just levitate in front of
you. And it does it without having to rely on blurring, distorting, and
decimating itself over and over again -- as fun as that can be..(not to
accuse GYBE of that specifically) Sorta like the ambient moments of Eno's
"Another Green World", Thinking Fellers, Amon Duul II.... all using a
pretty standard set of "rock" instruments too, for the most part.
At least the first half of the CD title is IDM.
