I grew up near Iowa City and can attest to the fact that the Record Collector has been a top notch record store for many years. In response to all of this commentary about bad service from stores, i feel obligated to do a little shameless self-promotion..... i work for a store called Record Collector in Iowa (US) and we have recectly opened up a web store. We try to stock a fair amount of "IDM" titles and are always willing to do special orders. We buy through an ungodly number of distributors and are always willing to go the extra mile to find titles for people. The best part is that since I am on this list and am at least as big a fanboy as anyone else, I have no excuse for dropping the ball on your order... Our webstore address is: www.recordcollectorinc.com For special orders and general inquiries, I can be reached at: matt@recordcollectorinc.com Thanks for your time. P.S. - Kent Williams (Chaircrusher) is a long time customer of ours and would hopefully agree that we aren't bustas.......

Yer all a bunch of bustas and I mean that in the best possible sense of the word. Seriously though I've traveled the world and the seven seas and the Record Collector is near the tippy top of my favorite stores list. It's cheap compared to big city stores, and they always have a load of cool stuff. Call or e-mail them with your want list -- they have loads of old vinyl and used CDs as well... --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Well, I have to say I find this heartening. I might be going to grad school there shortly, and it's nice to know that I'd have somewhere to spend my stipend. Out of curiosity, who do you guys do most of your mailorder from? I realize that some stores cater to different styles, but for IDM/ambient/downtempo, who do you turn to? Any and all leads are always appreciated... Pedro Cevallos -- "...beginning in the fourteenth century, the clock made us into time-keepers, and then time-savers, and now time-servers. I've ordered stuff from both of these and haven't had any problems. Except occasionally if I order, say, 6 or 7 cds from Skimo, they will only have 4 in stock. In which case I would head to Bent Crayon. I haven't seen it in a while, but isn't the Bent Crayon catalog difficult to look at with the green and black boxes? Sometimes I get frustrated trying to read those things and end up back at Skimo. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I mostly order at the following: http://www.warprecords.com - very fast and reliable, but a bit limited in it's catalogue ;) http://www.forcedexposure.com - also very fast, good informative info with releases, but the site is a bit 'basic' :) http://www.clone.nl - great store, nice people, good music! :) I've occasionally ordered at cd-now and some other 'general' sites too, but only the more well-known idm stuff if you know what I mean...
