I thought so at first, but it grew on me. I think it's a very good Underworld album.

Well, considering that their DJ (or whatever he was) left them, there really isn't an Underworld anymore, as far as I know. -Adam __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I was at a club here a few months ago and Darren Emerson (formerly of Underworld) came on unexpectedly (I was there for Baby Ford) and played one of the worst sets I've ever heard in my life. Apparently he was in town because he was opening for Fatboy Slim. -- :: atomly :: atomly@atomly.com | atomly@my2way.com http://www.atomly.com/ | 877.741.3571 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

dj darren emerson left the band in april 2000 because he wants to have more time for his solo projects and his family. karl hyde & rick smith are continuing as underworld and they are currently in the studio working on their 4th album, which will be released in winter 2001 or spring 2002. they are pretty much "alive" and they put up new stuff on underworldlive.com on a daily basis (mp3s, movies, webbooks, pics...) for more information about the band check out www.rtsr.org (which is NOT the official page) cheers »Eikman« -] http://www.eikman.net [- ----- Original Message ----- From: Adam Piontek <apiontek@yahoo.com> To: <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Tuesday, June 19, 2001 7:13 PM Subject: Re: [idm] underw0rld.

The general consensus is that Darren Emerson's dj sets are pretty terrible and that mix cd he put out isn't much better. I remember hearing that they played a couple of festival type shows in Europe or Japan after Darren left and that the two of them (Rick and Karl) more than held their own. I was quite dissapointed with the live album, but Dubnobass... and Beaucoup Fish are still a couple of my favorites. Second Toughest I don't listen to as much as the others, but certainly is no less impressive than those. Has anybody else noticed the uncanny resemblance of Rick Smith to Peter Gabriel? np: Beethoven's 2nd _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Darren Emerson's "Global Underground" mix is a double cd. one of them I really like and the other one is terrible - i can't even listen to it. Then again, I have no use for anything by Underworld other than Second Toughest.. and I don't like Beethoven, so what do I know. np: Ministry of Sound - Jimmy Van M __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I have my fingers firmly placed in my ears... Underworld, in my opinion will be nothing without Darren Emerson - they were already together, and doing nothing useful when he stumbled across them... As for his DJ sets...he is hit and miss (a bit like that other odd boy, Justin Robertson) - I've seen him about 6-7 times now...his first time was a bit dodgy, but the 2nd time I saw him, Andrew Weatherall opened for him...Andy did his usual: "OK kids, I'm gonna let you dance for about 60% of this, then I'm gonna do some distortion/delay/echo thing with the sound until you all get pissed off, then I'll drop a big hard track and you'll cream your pants" set - which was great...Darren Emerson came on, and oooooh baby....great stuff...nasty, grinding, noisey, and dancey as hell... So, unless you want me to send the cyber-dogs around to your cyber-house, don't be slaggin' the great Darren Emerson... :) RoNAn ----- Original Message ----- From: "brian albers" <brianalbers@hotmail.com> To: <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Tuesday, June 19, 2001 7:19 PM Subject: Re: [idm] underw0rld.

You're forgetting that nearly all of "Dubnobass..." was written when Emerson wasn't yet around. Plus, the Born Slippy EP (excepting Telematic) was also written without him. Darren contributed his dance sensibilities to the group, of course, and I don't honestly believe UW would be who they are if Emerson had never been part of the group. But it's my opinion that Rick and Karl had learned all they could from Darren and vice-versa. Underworld will live on! -Ryan p.s. - and Darren's DJ sets *do* suck. So did his collaboration track with Sasha.... Send in the hounds! At 01:37 AM 6/20/2001 +0100, you wrote:
