I tried to find out about this Gescom release but I was led to believe that
it does not exist. Nick at Smallfish recalls only the Dual Purpose record
coming in, but no Gescom. A friend asked at Pelicanneck and they only knew
of the Dual Purpose release, and pointed to Picadilly for a copy. The guy at
Picadilly was certain that Autechre are behind the dual purpose release but
most importantly, I got a copy, yay :-D
Anyway, I could well believe it is gescom related, and it DOES have a gescom
logo goddammit. The first track is the kind of hip hop style I associate
with the gescommy/autechrey stuff like envane and gescom 2. Second track is
some real syncopated off-kilter madness that, for a time, was pretty much
the skam trademark. Other side, first track, more hard-edged metallic bassy
beaty stuff, and the last track is heavily treated and not to be taken
lightly.
My guess is that Dual Purpose contains a part of the Gescom collective.
