As true as these things are, they're just weak excuses
for people who wish one artist were more popular than
another. You're not supposed to wish for popularity,
you're supposed to hunker down in your corner and
silently cherish how special you are for being one of
very few people who are fans of your pet obscure
artist. Face it, that's why we're all into this in
the first place - it makes us feel good to like
obscure stuff because we're special, part of an elite
in-crowd.

Seriously, though, I firmly believe that attention
paid to artists is the attention they deserve. Not a
measure of worth or "who's better" kind of stuff.
Cultural attention is kind of like breathing - it's a
natural process that just *happens*, and while you can
try to force more or less air if you're conscious of
it, you're not going to be doing yourself any good.
