saw them last night and left after 2 "songs". it really sucked... I feel ripped off... anyway, their music is just technical noise with no emotion, tells no story etc... it's not really music... I am sure many of you will celebrate that aspect of it and declare it to be the future of music... perhaps I am just an old fogey that doesn't understand the new kids music.... Ironically, I am glad that music like that exists, and that people go listen to it... it just seems like kind of artsy fartsy experimental crap designed solely to disturb and irritate the listener, and why would anyone really want to listen to that? I have heard the same type of thing before in the past at performance art galleries where they like bang on pots and pans and people with no musical ability are like sawing wood and bashing pieces of metal while naked and covered in body paint etc... that's much more entertaining that watching 2 guys with their heads down barely move on stage.... --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I agree. It was a boring show. Completely devoid of emotion... What happened to song development? Damn, half the time Sean and Rob didn't even know when to move their heads up and down, let alone the crowd. I stayed for the whole set, hoping to hear a song that I could at least move with and not feel like I was in the middle of a train-wreck. It didn't happen. In brief, the first two "tracks" were very lulling, dark, and zenlike... which I thought was a positive thing. Things got insane after two songs though. Patience is a virtue. I mean, OF COURSE it was going to be a difficult listen! I hope some of you guys didn't prepare for the show with "Amber" on repeat in the car. Rob Hall = bootylicious. Early Factory/Arthur Baker/fucked up electro synth. Russell = insane. Yeah, not for those who require beatmatched sets, but at one time I think he played the Boredoms, then later on.. Bam Bam or Baby Ford. Brilliant! O.S.T = washy noisy David Cronenburgy. Wasn't really in the mood for it, but it built really nicely Autechre = amazing. Not really "fun", but very dark and psychedelic and random. I still stand my statement. Don't miss ANY of the performers. Sorry to those who were bored. ======================================================================= Brian MacDonald <brianm@kuci.org> ======================================================================= On Thu, 17 May 2001, hess wrote:
