All those interested should check out Poire_Z at the Empty Bottle, tonight, Wednesday, May 16 at 10 PM. Review at the Chicago Reader, http://www.chicagoreader.com/music/critic.html#IPOIRE and also check out http://www.emptybottle.com. FYI, I am not a promoter (I just play one on TV?) but I've enjoyed their work. Voice Crack has worked (not unlike Reed Ghazala, Sonic Boom and myself) with hacked toys (circuit-bending) in the past, to produce audio works of great depth and breadth. They also like lots of blinking and flashing lights. Pretty _AND_ tickles the ears. I have to recommend this show as well. I got to catch Pouire_Z in Boston and was astounded by the range of gadgets and sounds they made. It definately shakes the notion that a performer needs a rack of G4's to make interesting electronic music... :) erik
