So let me see if I've got this right. Why exactly did Warp open a US office? To in some way coincide the US releases of their albums with the rest of the world's and thusly trying to save us fanatics from spending exorbitant amounts of money on imports? Well, Confield has been out in Japan for a couple weeks now, as well as the UK. Now we in the states are now seeing it trickle in and priced at about twice as much as a new cd. I got the vinyl today for 26 bucks. The official US release date is still a week and a half off I think. Nice try. And as long as I'm on the topic- I don't have anything but a first impression to go on, but the new album sounds to me really similar to LP5. Not a whole lotta melody or harmony, but some. Lots of clickity clackety thump thump fizziness. Not at all bad, but I find myself longing for the old days. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I've had no problem getting the new Autechre for a reasonable price in the US. I pre ordered all the represses and confield vinyl from warpmart maybe a month ago and received the entire order on April 28th. I think I paid $12 for confield. I didn't even realize people in the US were having trouble getting Confield still. As far as an opinion on the album goes I'm still going to give it a couple more listens before I decide how i feel about it. Im trying to take an approach where I decide based on the way it makes me feel rather than how it sounds. brian albers <brianalbers@hotmail.com> wrote: So let me see if I've got this right. That's cause you're in Toronto. For some reason, the Canadian distributor for Warp US (Outside Music) released Confield at the same time as Warp UK, even though the official Warp US release date was delayed two weeks. Maybe someone didn't tell them they were supposed to wait. The fact that US date was being moved back two weeks was posted in here a couple weeks ago, giving those who couldn't wait plenty of time to get their order into Warpmart and get it nearer the international release date. The reason for the delay on the release was to ensure that the packaging was to Ae's liking. There was an element to the layout that in production looked like it could have been either a corruption or intentional. It was felt best to get it right instead of sticking to the release date. If it makes you feel any better, the Americans and Canadians get the Squarepusher single released a week early than the rest of the world, so you win some and you lose some. Add Vancouver to the list as well. Picked up Confield last Tuesday....god bless illiterate distributors. As with much of their output over the last few years, didn't enjoy it at first, loving it now. Same old story really. ___________ Date: Mon, 07 May 2001 00:05:01 -0400 To: <idm@hyperreal.org> From: Greg Clow <greg@stainedproductions.com> Subject: Re: [idm] warped in america Message-Id: <5.0.2.1.0.20010507000150.00aeba20@mail.velocet.net> That's cause you're in Toronto.
