Dance producer BT, who has remixed songs for Madonna, Tori Amos, Sarah McLachlan and Seal, worked with 'NSYNC on the song, EW reported in its latest issue. "We took it to where we think music is going," Justin Timberlake, who co-wrote the song, told the magazine. "It's more futuristic. It's like R&B twice as fast." ------- And you guys thought Squarepusher was quick to jump on 2-step. This means M. Doughty of Soul Coughing is exactly one producer away from 'NSYNC (he worked with BT on 'Never Gonna Come Back Down'). I was actually surprised that it took so long for somebody "IDM" to jump on it... 2-step's been so absolutely massive in London for the past few years. -- :: atomly :: atomly@atomly.com | atomly@atdot.org | atomly@curiousnetworks.com http://www.atomly.com | http://www.mp3.com/atomly --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Yes, with all the Artful Dodgers out there and Craig Davids, it's fully pop now. Rusty --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

yep...the album with popcorn on it wac called hot butter, then after the success of that in 72, they re released it as popcorn, their next record was imaginatively called more hot butter, and it's pretty bad...i picked it up at a garage sale for 50 cents, and it's not even worth that... dave __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Hello. I'm one of the lowly internet artists slowly making their way onto the legit, often chaotic physical presence scene, whatever that means. Now, the question I have, is what does it take to get noticed by you IDM hedz? I am a member of a small little group called TEFOSAV (www.tefosav.co.uk) which I think you have all heard of, since AEM is a part of it ..... but there is not much discussion on this list of unsigned/internet artists at all, so I am wondering ----- what does it take to be noticed by y'allz? My url if you're interested --- http://proxy.enooze.com or http://www.themurphyfamilyonline.com/john (both lead to the same place). I would love some feedback from y'allz if possible, but I would even love the 'how to I make an impression on you' question answered even moreso. :D If you have any questions or comments, feel free to contact me offlist (jmurphy@haverford.edu or on IM - luse knot). I'm curious what people have to say. lataz, john --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I'm not an artist, and I don't have any advice for you. However, I would like to note that IMHO the idm scene is deeper and more diverse than it's ever been. Hell, there are really great artists with record deals that don't get mentioned around here. Great situation for us listeners, tough one for you producers. Good luck, but I wouldn't (I know, I know, easy for me to say) feel bad about the lack of buzz. i make music, but i'm not really all that interested in amateur IDM music because for the most part, it sounds like fanboy stuff to me. everyone uses the same computer programs and there's only so much experimentation you can do with the same tools as everyone else, and the same taste in music. that's just me, though. you're probably better off trying to get noticed by a different crowd. --- john murphy <jmurphy@haverford.edu> wrote:

For the most part, people take much more interest when you go through the work of getting your work on physical releases, whether it be creating professional-looking EP's for your own "label," appearing on small compilations, or other possibly well-produced physical music objects. MP3's are a dime a dozen, and most people don't make a big deal about some bits on their harddrives. People do usually care about a cd (or vinyl) lying about their apartment. cheers, /derek At 08:40 PM 5/10/2001 -0700, butt chowder wrote:

Ah. Hrm. I guess I could have mentioned that I am on a local label (zenapolae records - www.zenapolae.com) and I do have a CDREP out with them .... however, the buzz is so small that I feel unnoticed even in my own neighborhood ... I appreciate what they do, but to the rest of the world, my mp3/homepage is all they see. john At 10:52 P 5/10/01 -0500, EggyToast wrote:
