Ok, why does the crunch album kick so much ass? why is it the best thing i have heard in a LONG time? WHY?? i have a sneaking suspicion that someone on this list actually is or knows who is CRUNCH, im not asking you to step up, but PLEASE TELL CRUNCH THEY KICK ASS. AS FOR THE REST OF YOU Artist: Crunch Title: 1 Label: Musik Aus Strom Catalog: MAS15.01 You: Should go buy it now i'd write a review but that would spoil the ENTIRE album ROTKIN.TE (the_desig) "respect" _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Y'know, I was kind of thinking the same thing. I mean, there's nothing really new or groundbreaking about this album. It was supposedly recorded a couple of years ago, and it sounds like it in some ways. But something about it grabbed me right away. As stated in previous posts: Crunch is Dave Tipper and Mike Wallis. Tipper has been making fantastic future breakbeat for several years now and has always pushed the experimental sound as a producer and DJ (see his past Groovetech and Radio One playlists). He has even delved into the IDM-side of things on his own breakbeat productions...he has remixed his own tunes under different aliases (ie: his "Supersport" 10" and on Higherground/Fuel Records). If you want to hear for yourself, check out Tipper's LP on Higherground called "The Critical Path". Its about a 50/50 mix of breaks and beaty-IDM. Listen to the track "Seldom Vile", you'll know right away for yourself who Crunch really is.... www.tipper.co.uk I know nothing about Mike Wallis - anyone? as i said before, i have a Funkstorung live performance in which 3 songs they perform also appear on the Crunch cd. but i was quickly told that they, in fact, are not Funkstorung and that their identity is perfectly clear (i cant remember who it is now, but im sure someone will). otherwise. i'd second the album. not for those who've had their fill of so-called "autechre-clones". i dont buy into the autechre-clone hype, but it has the sound that would definitely drive someone people to make that categorization. i dont quite hear all the similarities to "Amber" (except for maybe the first track), but i do hear a less abrasive Funkstorung and at times a more abrasive BoC. ]|=-Brian Hulick-=|[ ./.Life is unfair; Kill yourself or get over it..\. ----- Original Message ----- From: Rotkin te (the_desig) <red_shift_x7@hotmail.com> To: <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Wednesday, April 04, 2001 9:41 PM Subject: [idm] why does crunch?
