Okay, I've got a simple question. (sic) I had a bunch of CDs stolen recently, and my insurance is going to cover them. Amooba Music doesn't let you listen to stuff, so I don't really wanna buy things I've only heard a little bit about or of. So, what would everybody deem were the must own CDs in the genre? besides the obvious contenders, Autechre, AFX, Plaid and such...and maybe places to listen to some of them online?? I think this person is refering to "Trainer" which kinda bites, its a collection of thier early stuff, but "Rest proof Clockwork" is excellent. Right now im listening to Banabila- "Voiz Noiz" which is some of the coolest stuff I have heard in a long time-I just got it so I dont know about its staying power but I am totally loving what I am hearing and would highly reccomend it.

This seems to be a very apples and oranges comparison. Nothing about Pole reminds me of Plaid, and vice versa (except that they both start with a P). Liking one doesn't automatically rule out liking (or disliking) the other - does it? no they are completely different. i was just really bitter after i read good reviews (in some magazine i no longer read, forget the name) and bought plaid - trainer. and it was boring and i feel like a lot of my friends could make better music screwing around with drum machines and whatnot. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I dunno Trainer is exactly that, those guys fiddling around with stuff like ten or twelve years ago-which considering how old it is its understandable why it isnt as good as thier last release or the peel sessions. Look at the liner notes some of that stuff is from 1989!!Can you think of ANY good IDM from that time?I dont think Trainer is a good example of thier work. As far as Pole ive only heard a few tracks here and there and what I heard definitley didnt send me, but hearing what praise people give them I might have to go out and buy some, like give them a second chance or somethin'. --- "Erica A. Pole's music is pure magic. It has to be listened carefully, at least for the first time...it works this way for most of minimalistic music, though. I got into Panasonic's Vakio only after listening the whole cassette (it was long ago...) in my discman. I loved how it twisted slowly in my mind... ;) Alien np. V/A Emanated.
