ok, i admit it, i jumped the gun. at a cursory glance & listen, i was quite convinced that chris clark was actually rdj. the handwriting on the back cover is similar to rdj's, but there are also telling differences. i still think a lot of stuff on "clarence park" sounds like something off a possible rdj album. if this isn't rdj (i'm still not totally convinced otherwise) then i'm rather surprised warp releases an album that is so derivative. i still think it's a good album, though. i can't belive i'm the only one that's received a promo. i apologize to everyone that got their hopes up. here lukas, have a napkin; now wipe that drool off your chin. maybe i should have just asked a question, instead of spreading rumours. but this was much more fun, wasn't it? hs ___________________________ alla era bas är tillhör oss --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I can't believe anybody tried to figure out the identity of an artist by analyzing the handwriting style of the cd artwork. Unbelievable.

Warp aren't the only ones. I listened through the Gimmik cd, the Crunch cd and Quench's "A Journey Through Electronix" yesterday and I found all three to be indistinctive and interchangeable. In other words, they all sound exactly alike. And I dunno how much crack that guy from Funkstorung was smoking, but the Crunch cd is run-of-the-mill, standard faire idm. Now don't get me wrong- I like all those albums, but it seems like it's getting to a point in the entire genre is starting to get stuck in the rut of having a trademark or expected sound, much like grunge did in the mid 90's (like when Soundgarden released basically the same album four different times, realized there was no future in it and imploded.) Hopefully Autechre blows the doors off the entire scene with their new album. Or Kid 606. Or somebody. Hell, right now would be the perfect time for a new Aphex album, wouldn't it? _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I totally agree there. When are people going to realize that "Amber" was Autechre's least impressive album and stop trying to emulate it? I am getting sick of these people ripping off Ae circa 1994. The whole thing was boring to begin with.

Actually, Autechre blows the doors off the scene with just about every release. 2 reasons for that: they are masters of their equipment and they are not attempting to emulate a certain sound. They experiment endlessly and don't give a shit if people like the results. As for Kid 606, he needs to stop f'ing about with the DSP plug-ins and make the album that we all know he is capable of.

Or the new Phoenecia album. =) Or maybe it's time for everyone to run out and buy Delarosa and Asora's "Agony Part 1" and "Backsome" titles and realize how frigging brilliant those works are. which is sorta funny considering Scott himself wrote (in a message that appeared on this list a month or two ago) that the "Delarosa and Asora" music was kind of a joke-side-project kind of thing, and that he wouldn't be making more of it... -adam --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Wow. That's horribly sad because I think the Delarosa and Asora works are Scott's best. Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of Prefuse 73 and Savath and Savalas but none of that stuff floored me like Agony. That he considers it a joke is beyond my comprehension.
