Electronic Meditation, Alpha Centauri, Zeit, Atem. All from 1970 to 1973. My personal favorites are Zeit and Atem. And hey, Stratosfear is from 1976- calling the arrangements cheesy and trance-like is a bit rough. Cut them some slack, that was 25 years ago. JShupester@aol.com wrote:

I agree with these recommendations, though with the caveat that Electronic Meditation is more freakout than ambient. Other contemporaneous synth chill out classics include Klaus Schulze (early-mid '70s), Manuel Gottsching/Ash Ra (although the first six Ash Ra Tempel records are awesome, the most relevant start with Inventions for Electric Guitar) & Popol Vuh's first album, Affenstunde (a pure electronic album- the synth was eventually donated to Schulze). Actually, there's also a great bootleg Popol Vuh 7" in a similar style (live @ Beat Club, I think), but I would feel bad mentioning it (oops). -rob --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
