lol This may be an incredibly asinine question, but what the hell does LOL stand for? I've seen it many times and have yet to figure it out from context alone. I think I got most of the other acronyms. np: Rook Vallard / Vallade _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

its not a stupid question, just a stupid term, lol means laugh out loud, theres also rofl which means rolling on the floor laughing, I hate these terms. People seem to use them so often but how often do you ever really see someone laughing out loud or better yet, rolling on the floor? I guess its just a sort of short hand for "thats really funny", I'd prefer trf, nah, I prefer "thats really funny". ____________________________________________ p l u m b d e s i g n Adesh Deosaran | Information Designer 157 chambers st ny ny 10007 p.212-285-8600 x240 f.212-285-8999 -----Original Message----- From: brian albers [mailto:brianalbers@hotmail.com] Sent: Wednesday, February 21, 2001 8:42 PM To: idm@hyperreal.org Subject: Re: [idm] lol? lol This may be an incredibly asinine question, but what the hell does LOL stand for? Laughing out loud. Short for Lol Tolhurst, formerly of the Cure. Whenever someone says something that's just completely out of left field, tradition dicates we must turn, put our hands over our hearts, and think of Lol Tolhurst, the One Hand Keyboard Wonder, formerly of The Cure.
