hello, Has anyone heard the Bretschneider "Curve" CD? I enjoyed the "Rand" album last year on Mille Plateaux and especially the Komet "Rausch" release on 12k this year.... and was wondering how "Curve" compares to either one of those. thanks matt +------------------------------------+ m.mercer :: systm audio-visual communicator http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/98/systm.html mmercer@kent.edu :: vletrmx@hotmail.com _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

From Vital Weekly (http://www.staalplaat.com/vitalintro.htm ) : FRANK BRETSCHNEIDER - CURVE (CD by Mille Plateaux) Frank Bretschneider = Komet = Frank Bretschneider. If you are familiar with both his work under his own name and the work as Komet, you may feel, just as I do, that the artist names are interchangable. Komet sounds alike Frank's stuff. This here is his second CD for Mille Plateaux, and I think it's a big step forward compared to 'Rand', however if we see 'Curve' in the same line as his last Komet CD, the step is less big. But his music progresses all the time. Frank plays utterly laidback, electronic dance music with a not so uptempo rhythm, with very cool minimal chords on the organ or piano. Neo-dub for the use of repeating elements in the mix that drop in and out of the mix. Relax music that does well on the floor or at home. Just great stuff. for those of you living in london make sure not to miss his live collaboration with Tonne at the Interplay festival. other ones living too far to attend, like myself, might enjoy his latest recordings for Reciprcess [reciprocess : +/vs.] vol. 1 Bovine Life and/or/vs. Komet (Frank Bretschneider) [bleep 10] BiP_HOp in association with Fallt are pleased to present [reciprocess : +/vs.]. A series of split CDs featuring the work(s) of two sound assemblers and documenting the process of musical reciprocicality between them. As the title of the Series suggests each issue in "Reciprocess" features two sound assemblers contributing a collaborative work; a series of independent works; and finally, contributing a remix of each other's work(s). [reciprocess : +/vs.] is co-curated by Philippe Petit (BiP-HOp) and Christopher Murphy (Fallt) and features artwork by Fallt designer's Fehler. [reciprocess : +/vs.] vol. 2 will feature Si-cut.db & Stephan Mathieu. SELECTED REVIEWS : The emphasis is on hyper-crisp elliptical beats, textural grains and dense shoots of white noise. It’s so clean, so doggedly electronic, it makes you want to scream. In a good way. Alexis Georgopoulos / XLR8R / USA Komet + Bovine Life : Together it's like finding out your parents are into S&M. Tobias V. / TRUCKER / Canada Futuristic, in a bleak way: it brings to life all the horror stories told by technophobes about computers eclipsing the human race. -- Mandy Shekleton / SPLENDID / USA This album is an absolute must have for fans of Richie Hawtin’s minimal work, or the Koln (umlaut implied) based rhythmic minimalists, amazing music! / PULSE NIAGARA / Canada A strong outing from the perspective of both artists, this makes for a highly satisfying album of clicks and cuts and a promising concept.
